Abstract

The first part of the Stockert radio continuum survey of the whole northern sky is presented. The survey was done with a 25-m telescope operated at 1420 MHz with HPBW about 34 arcmin, 55 percent main beam efficiency and 46 percent aperture efficiency. Since data were sampled at 16 ms intervals, sorting of the different antenna and reference load signals was done, followed by an interpolation of the data onto a series of scans tabulated at fixed azimuth intervals. The calibration procedure used was to check each day the noise diode several times by measuring strong 3C sources. The conversion from the measured antenna temperatures into full beam brightness temperatures was done by using the results of an antenna pattern measurement on Cas A. The results are given in the form of contour maps. The effective resolution of the survey is about 35 arcmin, while the effective sensitivity is about 50 mK T(b).
